Statement of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tanju Bilgiç in Response to a Question Regarding the Meeting Between Turkey, the United States, the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Syria Held in Vienna on October 23

Republic Of Türkiye Ministry Of Foreign Affairs 23.10.2015

QA-26, 23 October 2015

Principles and objectives we express regarding Syria are clear. These principles and objectives are viewed as the only path to achieve stability and peace in Syria not only by the opposition, but by many allied and partner countries. These principles and objectives have once again been reaffirmed in meetings in New York with participation by nine countries.

In today’s meeting in Vienna, ways and means for a political solution to be put into life based on these principles and objectives and how a transition process will be initiated and implemented were discussed and some new ideas were taken up.

Issues that were discussed in today’s meeting are to be consulted with the Syrian opposition and other relevant parties, and subsequently a new meeting is planned to take place next week.
